Beloved Art Books Take New Form

October 31, 2012

Gainesville, FL— The University Press of Florida (UPF) is pleased to announce a collection of postcards featuring images from four of its most-treasured art books: The Highwaymen: Florida’s African-American Landscape Painters, Dream Houses: Historic Beach Homes & Cottages of Naples, Florida Cowboys: Keepers of the Last Frontier, and Journal of Light: The Visual Diary of A Florida Nature Photographer. Available now, each postcard book features 12 beautiful, full-color images and a replica of the cover from the original art publication.

Based on the overwhelmingly positive feedback each of these books has received, the corresponding postcard sets are a way to further celebrate and share the breathtaking artwork each contains. From the outset of UPF’s decision to explore postcards, it was clear which four titles to feature. More than merely visually stunning, these are some of the best-selling, best-reviewed art books that UPF has ever published. Complementing them with postcards makes them accessible to a broader audience by offering them at a lower price point, in a format that allows the original images to be appreciated in new ways.

The iconic photographs and paintings from each book can now be shared with others through the mail, or even framed and displayed in one’s own home. Pocket-sized art books in their own right, these postcards are truly portable galleries.
